Kintsugi Introduction

October 13 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

€75

Kintsugi is a Japanese technique of restoring ceramics with gold. According to Wabi-sabi, cracks should not be hidden but celebrated with gold, because they are part of the object’s history and represent an opportunity for growth.

In this introductory workshop to Kintsugi, held by Filipa Correia, after a brief introduction to the history and philosophy of the technique, everyone will restore a broken piece of ceramic with a modern kintsugi technique: a simpler gold relief technique, which everyone repeats the steps of traditional kintsugi, but using modern materials that will allow us to complete the restoration in a few hours.

*Traditional kintsugi requires years of practice and materials require at least 4 weeks to dry. Since we will be using modern materials, the restored ceramics will not be food safe
